A Celebration of the Journey. Sherry Hastings is a contemporary painter who lives in Portland, Oregon. A native to Oregon with many travels and life experience under her belt, she celebrates the journey of life. Her personal style celebrates a vibrant spirit with bold compositions, and harmonious colors brought to life with the language of flowers. Floriography is the language she speaks in symbolizing different values, character traits, and life experiences appreciating the everyday life happening.
Growing up, Sherry would spend summers in Idaho with her Grandmother. Part of the time was spent at their family lake cabin the other time at a large ranch with miles of forest between her and civilization. The ladies in the family would take walks in the forest, along rivers, up steep hillsides to breath in the wonderful abundance of fresh air. As they walked, the Grandmother would identify all of the flora and fauna along the path. Sherry always held those moments dear to her heart as the generations passed, and the knowledge passed along with them. Now as a mother, Sherry takes long walks with her children and teaches them to appreciate the beauty in each and every flower they pass.
With a BFA in Graphic Design and Art History, and a long career in Advertising, Sherry decided to follow her heart. She made a big career move to become a painter and raise her 2 children. Enjoying a rich life of togetherness and passing on the love of nature. Her painting inspiration lies within the people she meets, the children she gets to play with and the city she lives in, she pays homage to the character of life's journey.
