"Mom's Embrace"
My work seems like happy generic flower paintings but dig deeper and you will find it is full of meaning. Nasturtiums symbolize a Mother's love. Chrysanthemums symbolize condolences. This piece is about a sorrow that is cradled in care. You see the stark pedals of the Chrysanthemum curling inward and the Nasturtiums surrounding the sorrow on all sides. The nasturtiums are protective and sheltering. The dark background gives way for reflection, mourning and comfort. My paintings always reflect what I'm going through in symbolic forms. I am missing my mother right now as I navigate difficult times. The painting often reflects what I wish was happening. Flowers are my subjects to help me tell the stories.
